Ethan Caldwell is a Principal at Optima Global Trading and Head of Trading & Portfolio Solutions. In this role, he oversees global trade execution, portfolio financing, and the design and implementation of multi-asset strategies. He is responsible for managing counterparty relationships, developing execution technology, and ensuring seamless integration of investment models into client portfolios.

Since joining Optima Global in 2016, Ethan has been a key contributor to the expansion of the firm’s ETF, macro, and systematic trading platforms. He also plays a central role in the firm’s risk management framework, coordinating between portfolio managers and research teams to optimize liquidity and capital allocation.

Before Optima Global, Ethan was a Vice President in the multi-asset trading group at Wellington Management, where he focused on derivatives and macro strategies. Earlier in his career, he worked at Citigroup as an associate trader covering global fixed income products.

He holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Virginia. Ethan is also a CFA charterholder.
